About the Faculty

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Istanbul Health and Technology University (ISTUN) began offering education in the 2020-2021 academic year. The faculty offers two separate programs: "Turkish Pharmacy" and "English Pharmacy." Pharmacy is the only profession authorized to participate in and oversee all stages from the production of raw materials for medications to the preparation of various conventional and innovative pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Pharmacists provide consultation services to other healthcare professionals and patients about the pharmacological effects of drugs and issues related to drug use. They play an important role in enhancing patient adherence to treatment and ensuring the best possible outcome from the prescribed therapy. The primary goal of undergraduate pharmacy education is to train qualified personnel in every area where pharmacists are needed in the pharmacy and healthcare sectors. The core mission of the ISTUN Faculty of Pharmacy is to train qualified pharmacists who can best provide these services to our society.

Our pharmacy education program is structured in accordance with the "National Core Pharmacy Education Program (EczÇEP)," which outlines the basic framework and requirements for the educational activities of pharmacy faculties in Turkey. The duration of education is five years. This period includes compulsory and elective theoretical courses, laboratory courses, internship applications, and a thesis stage, encompassing medical, chemical, life, and professional sciences.

Our graduates have the opportunity to work in community and hospital pharmacies, as well as in various fields within the pharmaceutical industry (R&D, quality control, production, patents, licensing, clinical research, pharmacovigilance, marketing, market access, business development, export), research centers, and official institutions (such as the Ministry of Health and Provincial and District Health Directorates). Additionally, the introduction of clinical pharmacy specialization education in our country through the Pharmacy Specialization Examination (EUS) has created a new field for pharmacists. Graduates who wish to pursue an academic career can join master's and doctoral programs of their choice and have the opportunity to work as academics.

Our faculty has a competent and dynamic academic staff, an educational program that aligns with international academic quality standards and includes the latest professional innovations, well-equipped laboratories, and current university-pharmaceutical industry collaborations, all of which contribute to our potential to train pharmacists who can meet the needs of the country and society.
